Helping Out a Local School

Rolling Hills
I recently acted as Master of Ceremonies and Live Auctioneer for a fund-raiser for Rolling Hills Elementary School in the Poway School District where both of my godkids have attended (with the youngest one graduating there this year). Their mother, who is President of the Foundation that helps to support the school, asked me if I’d be willing to help out with their fundraising evening with the school’s parents and supporters — I was happy to oblige. I was impressed with the number and breadth of the items the Foundation was able to get donated for the auction, and apparently so were the bidders. The theme was a Mexican Wedding Fiesta, with Food, Casino tables, Silent Auction items, a Live Auction, and several other drawing items. The folks did a great job of putting the evening together.

The funds raised will go directly to support programs for Music, the Arts and Physical Education at the school. I was pleased to be able to help the school earn a whopping $16K in funds to assist those programs! As a kid, I was fortunate to become involved in arts and music in elementary school, and it’s important that the kids of this generation get exposure to this kind of life-enriching experience. Just part of “paying it forward”.
